... I'm just too busy/bleh to update most days. Where are you, warm weather? Come back... |

So the daisies are alive, since the snow melted away, but my AC adapter isn't. It kicked the bucket on Saturday, and I've spent this afternoon trying to find a replacement in this town, with the gracious help of my Croatian friend. Hopefully I'll have it by tomorrow - I miss the shiny laptop. Since it can't be powered up, I'm forced to use Sparky the Broken Down Laptop... and it has no sound! Waaaaaah!

Sorry for not updating for forever and ever! I'm a busy beaver - been running around finally getting stuff done that I haven't done all year, such as all the billions of doctor visits I ignored until the last possible moment. Anyways, I'm off to Budapest for the weekend, and then I'm home for another week while I'll continue running around like a seriously hassled hamster. On the 23rd, I'll be off to Ukraine to stay with Grandma for the holidays, so I'll be back sometime around the 8th of January. I'll be offline while over there, but I'll be checking my mail occasionally. Happy holidays of your choice!

So it all started on the November 2nd, with an innocent headache and fever, and in ten days, left me a slightly dead coughing wreck. Ugh. I've gone through all symptoms of a non-gastrointestinal flu, I think, except for productive coughing, which I am rather hoping for. On the 6th, I managed to write a test with a fever, missing a B by half a point (yay me!) Thursday I lost my voice, although it eventually was coaxed back to existence with copious amounts of tea and broth, and that day I missed class for the first time. Friday, the flu did something good for a change, since I didn't have to read out loud in class, although I still kept yelling stuff out in my hoarse voice. Friday night my fever spiked after I got home from class & store, and I spent the evening shaking like a leaf, unable to stand up straight. A super-hot shower helped, as did a second pillow. The weekend following it brought the joys of stuffed up nose that occassionally tries to get decongested and the resulting red peeling nose. I've decided to not go to class tomorrow to give myself another day of rest, mostly because I keep getting random coughing spells, and I think my classmates would appreciate me not coughing all over them. I'll get an expectorant tomorrow when I'm going over to my friend's place to get my laundry (she came to pick it up to wash it, being kind to the poor flu victim). I foresee another week of coughing, if just for my talents for picking up mild bronchitis whenever I do get a cough. Ugh. Shit needs to be done, but I just want to lie around all day. I need to do a reading for Wednesday, and a HW assignment for last Friday, but I just want to lie in bed all day with a warm blankie around me, drink tea and eat something tasty.

*refreshes CNN every two seconds* Count the votes guys, dammit! I am all aflutter! WHAT WILL IT BE??? *remembers a rather sucky night two years ago* I couldn't even absentee vote for my non-voting candidate who will be definitely elected again this year because DC Vote didn't send me my registration. Grrr. And VA, if you voted yes for Question 1? You suck. I am happy I am no longer next to you. (Nice VA people excluded.)

I am sick. The flu tackled me Thursday evening and has turned me into an apathetic lump. I don't have either a cough or a runny nose, but I am congested as heck and full of lemony tea. The big test is tomorrow, and I haven't studied yet... And I still need to do the other half of my reading for Wednesday. (For the difficulty of said reading, imagine having to read something in your fifth language that you haven't quite perfected. But I go to that class voluntarily. I am a masochist.) I'm supposed to find out about the residence permit within the next two weeks, and I am too sick to be anxious about it. Urk. I just want it to be Christmas already so I am at my grandma's being stuffed full of food. *crawls off to look up words in the dictionary for the reading*

English Genius
You scored 100% Beginner, 100% Intermediate, 93% Advanced, and 86% Expert! |
You did so extremely well, even I can't find a word to describe your excellence! You have the uncommon intelligence necessary to understand things that most people don't. You have an extensive vocabulary, and you're not afraid to use it properly! Way to go!

I got my hair cut today! Whee! And the lady who cut it was very nice and kept telling me how nice my hair was. She was amazed that my eyebrows and hair don't match naturally - I'm the only one in the family who has this, and I haven't met too many other people with that trait, so now I am wondering how rare this is... And I'm getting nails done tomorrow. I badly need it - my hands look mauled, and I can probably walk around Zagreb barefoot and not feel anything. *attempts to do stuff* *fails* *keels over onto keyboard and sleeps*

Train ticket from Split to Zagreb with youth discount - about 125 kuna. Having to ride a bus to some hole in the wall town just to get on the train because fall track maintenance started before it was supposed to - 30 minutes delay. Train driver missing Zagreb Glavni kolodvor completely and having to go back - priceless. |

So yesterday really sucked. First I finally packed all my shit going to Zagreb, taped the hell out of the boxes, and my friend graciously drove me to the post office. And the fucking USPS will only send teeny-tiny boxes Economy. Slightly larger boxes have to go Express. And I can't pull money out of my arse, so I managed to have a crying jag at the post office. After I decided to drag two of the larger boxes to the post office because I need to wear something in Zagreb other than beachwear in the fall, the sky erupted, soaking me and them. Taking this a sign that I need to repack, I dragged self home, took out stuff out of the wet boxes, and took a bus to visit my friend aprilvalentine in Baltimore to give her some tapes and get some in exchange. Her DVD recorder conspired against us, and we spent half of the night and all of this morning copying tapes. So now I'm back from Baltimore with shiny tapes and new boxes, and am motivating myself to do a quick repack of the clothes and such...
